The Sportsman and Stalybridge Buffet Bar recognised

The Telegraph newspaper has revealed its Best UK Pubs list for 2026 and we’re delighted that two of our Beerhouses pubs have made it onto the list – The Sportsman in Huddersfield and Stalybridge Buffet Bar in Stalybridge! The list includes 650 pubs from across the UK that the paper considers worthy of achieving such recognition. The full run down of all 650 can be read here. The criteria for inclusion are charming character, welcoming staff, rich history and, of course, award-winning beer. The list is usually limited to pubs in England but this year has been expanded to include the rest of the UK.

The Sportsman and Stalybridge Buffet Bar are no strangers to a Telegraph list having made this one last year and Stalybridge appearing in the Top 10 Railway Pubs. They’re clearly doing something right! A massive congratulations to both pubs and their brilliant teams who provide that welcoming ambience and curate their own beer selections 🙌🏼
