The Terrace; Yorkshire's up and coming live music venue
The Terrace has a rapidly growing reputation as one of the best venues for live music events in Yorkshire. With a capacity of just 100, this small venue creates BIG events in terms of its energy and immersive experience. This is by design; we have been working hard to bring in amazing acts – some local up and coming and some huge international stars – and charging fair ticket prices (in fact, many events are free) so that everyone can access live music and we can support talent.
We’re hosting events spanning all genres from blues, jazz, and indie bands to house and drum n bass DJ sets. We are particularly becoming known for dance and electronic music, with acts like Utah Saints, The Secret DJ, and Allister Whitehead performing here. We are also participating in Independent Venue Week 2024.

What the artists say...
So I don’t feel anything but pride when a local paper speaks to a budding new small venue about how excited they are about me and my mates working with them. Rather have one of these than ten festivals frankly. Give me the Dewsbury Reporter over the Guardian any day.
We loved it. The vibe was great, really intimate and everyone really appreciates it when you make the effort to go and play in their town and they come out to the shows which is awesome. We are already thinking about putting a tour together and just playing these type of venues around the country. Thanks so much for putting this on our radar The Secret DJ
Event Gallery
Nothing captures the vibe like being there but here’s a taste of the ambience at previous gigs and shows. You can see some of the artists we’ve hosted here.
Our resident performers
As well as a hosting a variety of artists, DJs, and bands, The Terrace is home to local talent in the form of our resident DJs and performers. These are the people that form the backdrop of our events, hosting their own events as well as supporting our visiting artists. Their talents also extend to sound engineering, creative direction, and promoting and we couldn’t do what we do without them.
Introducing our resident performers:
Pat Fulgoni
Mult-genre singer & promoter
Acclaimed singer Pat Fulgoni has sung across many styles including major dance floor collaborations with the likes of festival headlining acts Camo & Krooked, Coldcut, Zion Train, Technimatic, London Elektricity and Murdock. He’s toured Europe, Asia, the USA and over at SXSW in Texas.
Billboard Magazine declared “Pat Fulgoni could sing a pearl from its oyster”. He’s also fronted many live bands and when he’s not promoting live blues events, it’s truly magical when he sings the blues with his own 5 piece Pat Fulgoni Blues Experience.
Whether it’s house music for labels like Subliminal, 2020 or drum n bass for labels like Hospital, Ram or Rampage, Pat is a go-to pro. DJ Mag says he’s got “deliriously flowing soul” Mixmag said “classy, finely crafted vocal silk”. On a timeless blues soul tip Blues Matters Magazine summed it up quite nicely: “completely blown away because he can sing, I mean really sing, ridiculously well”
Matthaus
Resident DJ & Sound Technician
Matthaus, aka Jay Woodrow, has held a deep love for electronic music from a young age. After being surrounded by music as a child, he was particularly attracted to the synth sound and that led to the electro/hip hop/breakdance scene, followed by the house sound of Chicago, techno, and acid house.
Experimenting with drum machines back in the 80s, and the rave scene that followed, led to Matthaus getting his first decks in the early 90s. Alongside developing his own sounds and sets, Jay honed his technical skills as a sound engineer, working with Eurosound, Foulmouth Breaks, and Beat Guruz.
Matthaus has played extensively in Yorkshire and across the UK, Europe, and further afield. In his capacity as a DJ and sound technician, he’s worked with an impressive range of artists and at high profile dance events, clubs, and venues.
Matthaus and Pat Fulgoni recently performed together while supporting Utah Saints, with Pat overlaying vocals on Matthaus’s house mixes, and plan to collaborate again in the future.
Paul Birbeck & Steve Kirk
Resident DJs
Paul Birbeck and Steve Kirk have a combined experience of nearly fifty years playing house music professionally and have a back catalogue of music spanning thirty years. These guys are experts in their field. Both can play fantastic sets individually to any house orientated crowd, always leaving them wanting more. However, it’s when they play together that something special happens, each bouncing off the other’s passion to get the crowd jumping. Their aim is to create an electric atmosphere that will be talked about long after the event is over.
Their sets include the best of house and dance music from old skool tunes to brand new upfront house/deep house sets.
Steve extensively played Cagney’s, Pa’s, Jessops, and Eightlands in the 90s. He is currently resident at Joy, Joy techno, and Rejuvenation. See Steve’s mixes on Soundcloud. Paul also played Cagney’s.
Martin Howell
Resident DJ
Martin Howell, aka DJ Marty, is a house DJ from Leeds. You can listen to some of his mixes on Soundcloud.

What would you call YOUR pub if you had one for the evening?
Andrew and Terry recently hired The Terrace and actually changed the name of the pub for the evening, so that made us wonder what other people would call the pub if they had one 🤔
The Dog & Hammer was inspired by their football teams, The Terriers (Huddersfield Town) and The Hammers (West Ham). We've been known as The Glue Pot and The Old Turk before we were The Terrace (named after our lovely, covered outdoor space) but, for one night only, we could be anything you want!
Tell us what yours would be, and why, in the comments...

Looked ace xx
When we said 'Hire Your Own Pub', we never expected anyone to take it this literally! Andrew and Terry from Boom Marketing hired The Terrace for their joint 60th birthday 'pub takeover', creating beer mats, posters, shirts and even changing the signage.

What do you think to this artwork? Did you know that Dave Beer himself created it for the gig here at The Terrace on 8th June? We reckon it could even become a collector's item when we achieve our mission of becoming one of Yorkshire's best known dance music venues!
It's going to be an epic night, and nothing says top club venue better than an aBack To Basics Back To Basics icon and King of Clubs, Dave Beer!
