The County is now available for private hire

If you’ve ever tried to find a venue for private hire for an event in the centre of Huddersfield, you will know that there’s not a huge choice. In fact, we’re increasingly being told that there’s a real need for a venue for parties, weddings, and other occasions in town.

It got us thinking that a great pub like The County (award winning in fact!), with its size and location, could be the perfect venue for a private party. The pub already has a small function room that’s available to hire for smaller groups, but what about offering the entire pub for hire? That could be a great party venue!

So, that’s what we’re doing! The County is now fully available for private hire and what’s even better, is that it’s free*!

Parties, weddings, christenings, work events – we can do them all at The County

We’re not total newbs to this; we have hired out the full pub for events before. We’ve helped couples celebrate their weddings, hosted birthday parties, and allowed promoters to put on their own events but these have been the exception rather than the rule. Now, we are putting private hire front and centre of our offering and giving Huddersfield town centre something that’s been needed for a while.

Why hire The County for your event?

Well, there are some solid reasons why this is a great choice for your event:

  • You are hiring your own pub. Not a bland room in a faceless hotel – an entire CAMRA-award-winning pub! It’s hard to appreciate what lies within from the modest exterior but we think our beautiful Art Nouveau interior and bags of heritage is pretty special
  • In central Huddersfield, so great transport links for people getting there and home again
  • Just steps from Huddersfield Town Hall so perfect for wedding receptions or evening dos
  • You’ll be well looked after by our fantastic team. We can cater for all your needs including homecooked catering, drinks requests or even bespoke cocktails. If you want live music or a DJ, we can help with that too. We’re pub people so we know how to throw a great party!
  • Capacity for up to 65 people with plenty of spill-out space in our private beer garden
  • IT’S FREE! The whole pub is free to hire subject to a minimum spend on the bar*

Is The County still a pub?

Yes, we’re still open to the public as a pub, as you would expect from the 2024 CAMRA Pub of the Year, and we’ll still be running our popular events like the quiz night on a Wednesday, open mic on the first Sunday of the month, and our famous pop-up food events, but we’ll be offering an open timetable to private events when we will close to the public. Details of these will be posted on socials so we’d advise you to double check before visiting (and if we are closed for an event, we highly recommend our sister pub, The Sportsman, just down the road!).
